What is the AI Profiler?

The AI Profiler is the part of ScholiBuddy that gets to know you, so the rest of the app can do its job. In the app it's called the AI Profile Builder, and it works like a short, friendly conversation: it asks about your grade level, school, GPA, major, state, background, and activities, and builds a profile out of your answers. That profile is what powers profile-matched search — it's how the AI knows a small local nursing award or a first-generation engineering scholarship is worth putting in front of you and not someone else.

You don't fill out a giant form. You talk, or you upload a document and confirm what it found. That's the whole idea.

Why did we build it?

Because the slowest, most demoralizing part of the scholarship hunt isn't the money — it's the matching. There are tens of thousands of scholarships out there (we index 50,000+), and every one has its own eligibility rules: this GPA, that state, this major, that background. Checking yourself against all of them by hand is tedious, and most students give up after the first few — which usually means they only ever find the big, ultra-competitive national awards and miss the smaller, local ones with far less competition.

How do you set up your profile?

Setting up your profile takes a few minutes. Here's the walkthrough for a first-timer:

1. Open the AI Profiler. On Pro or the 7-day trial, head to the AI Profile Builder and start a chat. There's no long form waiting for you — just a first question.

2. Answer in plain English. Tell it your grade level, school, GPA, major or intended major, state, and anything that describes you — first-generation student, veteran, an activity you care about. Short answers are fine; you can add more as you go.

3. Or upload a document. Have a resume, transcript, or activities list? Upload it and the Profiler pulls the details out for you. Nothing is saved until you check it — you review each field it found and confirm or drop it, one by one.

4. Watch your checklist and match count fill in. As you add details, a checklist shows what to add next and why it helps, and a live match count moves as your profile gets more complete. You can see your profile working in real time.

5. Fix anything, anytime. If the AI couldn't use an answer, it tells you and asks again — it never quietly keeps a value it wasn't sure about. Corrections win, so you're always in control of what's on your profile.

6. Hand off to your matches. Once your profile is solid, the Profiler points you to AI Scout to see your scholarships ranked to you — the smaller and local ones included.

What does the AI Profiler do with what you tell it?

This is the part we're proud of, because it's where a lot of "AI" tools quietly cut corners. The AI Profiler only saves what you actually said or confirmed. It won't invent a major you didn't mention or guess a GPA to fill a blank — if a detail isn't grounded in your own words or a document you approved, it doesn't go on your profile. When it's unsure about something, it asks you to restate it rather than saving a guess.

It's also additive in the right places: if you tell it you're a veteran this turn and first-generation the next, it keeps both — a later answer doesn't wipe out an earlier one. And the match count it shows you is real; if the matching service is having a hiccup, it says so instead of showing a misleading "0 matches."

Does a good profile mean I'll win more scholarships?

No — and we want to be straight about that, because the category is full of tools that aren't. A complete profile means you'll find and apply to more awards that genuinely fit you, with less time wasted on ones you don't qualify for. It does not mean you'll be awarded anything. Every scholarship is decided by its own provider, on its own criteria — a profile can't change that, and any tool that promises otherwise is one to walk away from.
