Applicants may be involved in community service on a volunteer-basis, non-profit organizational support or simply demonstrate acts of selflessness on a regular basis. As an original SMR board member, these traits were some of which Jake Smaus displayed throughout his short but accomplished life. Jake’s uplifting character is honored through this scholarship with the hopes of inspiring those whose actions impact others in need. Scholarship Details • Named in honor of Jacob Smaus, a community servant and SMR board member • Recognizes students who consistently demonstrate acts of selflessness and community service • Award amount and deadline details may vary each year • Encourages students to continue making a difference in their communities Eligibility Criteria • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at a college or post-secondary institution • Must be a U.S. citizen and either a Nebraska resident or enrolled in a Nebraska-based institution • Must have completed at least one term or semester at their current institution • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 • Must be actively involved in community service through volunteer-based contributions Application Process 1.
