At The Children’s Heart Foundation we believe that fostering diversity in research and addressing health disparities in congenital heart defects (CHD) is crucial to improving outcomes for all patients impacted by CHDs. Our Scholarship for Researchers Committed to Advancing CHD Research in Minority Communities aims to support individuals who are dedicated to conducting research on congenital heart defects and improving the health outcomes of racial and ethnic minority populations.Scholarship Details• One $10,000 scholarship awarded this year• Funds sent directly to the degree program and applied toward tuition and approved educational expenses• Application opens May 5th• Deadline to apply is August 1st• Decision notifications sent by August 29thEligibility Criteria• Must be an incoming or current graduate student (Master’s or PhD) in a research-focused program (e.g., MPH, MSW, MSN, MSCI, PhD)• Applicants in dual degree programs (e.g., MD/MPH) are eligible• Must demonstrate a commitment to translational or clinical CHD research focused on racial and ethnic minority populations• Priority consideration given to applicants from NIH-defined underrepresented minority backgroundsApplication Process1. Prepare a Statement of Interest (maximum 3 pages) that includes your interest in CHD research, past research accomplishments, future goals, and how this scholarship supports your career development2. Submit your Curriculum Vitae or Resume3. Obtain and submit one Letter of Support from an academic advisor or mentor who can speak to your potential in CHD research4.
