Getlin's Corner Foundation Scholarship

The Getlin's Corner Foundation Scholarship is available to the children of enlisted U.S. Marines Corps members, Navy Corpsmen who served with Marine units, and grandchildren of the enlisted Marines who served with India Company, India Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines between January 1 - April 1, 1967. The scholarship was created to honor the men who sacrificed during Getlin's Corner's battle. Students seeking an associate's or bachelor's degree are encouraged to apply. The foundation awards need-based scholarships in tiers of $1,500, $2,500, and $5,000 to children of enlisted Marines or Navy Corpsmen who have served in Marine units, in honor of the men who sacrificed during the battle of Getlin's Corner. The scholarships support undergraduate college degrees as well as Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs leading to certification. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, including demonstrated financial need, honorable military service of the qualifying parent, and a minimum 2.0 GPA. The scholarship is competitive and not all who apply will be awarded. Application Timeline: The online application window is open from January 1 through March 31 (closes at 11:59PM Pacific). Award decisions are emailed by May 31. First payments are sent to schools on August 1. The deadline to complete Award Acceptance is November 30. Required documents (uploaded into the online application portal only): Transcript dated after January 1 of the application year showing full name, institution name, most recent grades, and cumulative GPA (official transcripts not required; screenshots acceptable if on a single page); prior year's federal tax return (first two pages of Federal 1040 or 1040-SR, with applicant listed as a dependent and showing Adjusted Gross Income) to demonstrate financial need; Qualifying Military Parent service documentation (DD214 Member-4 for veterans with 'Honorable' Character of Service, Statement of Service on official letterhead for active duty/reservists, or Report of Casualty DD Form 1300 for KIA); Photo (clear, at least 500KB, 300 dpi preferred); Association Document (for grandchild applicants, grandfather must be registered with the foundation); PDRL Documentation if applicable (if parent medically retired); DD214 Member-4 or Statement of Service if applicant has also served.
