Northwest Fisheries Association Scholarship provides financial assistance for college in any state to employees of member companies of the Northwest Fisheries Association (NWFA) and their families. The scholarship is open to any qualified member company employee, or a spouse, domestic partner or dependent of a qualified employee, who plans to attend college or a vocational-technical school in the upcoming school year. To qualify, the employee must have a minimum of one year of employment. For full-time study (12 semester or quarter hours per term in a term-based program using credit hours), a minimum of three named NWFA Scholarships of $5,000 or more are awarded each year, including the Bob Boroughs Endowment Fund Scholarship, the Ted Evans Endowment Fund Scholarship, and the Ted Stevens Memorial Scholarship. For part-time study, one scholarship of up to $2,500 (to cover tuition and books) is awarded. Only one scholarship per applicant per year will be awarded, and no applicant can be awarded a NWFA scholarship more than twice. Applications must be postmarked no later than February 15th and must include a completed two-page application, a letter of recommendation, a current transcript or letter of acceptance from a post-secondary institution, and an essay of approximately 300 words (typed, double-spaced, on 8-1/2 x 11, saved as a PDF). Notice of the awards will be made to awardees on or before May 15th. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
