The OREF/RJOS Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Disparities in Orthopaedic Health Care Research Grant solicits investigator-initiated clinical research proposals that stimulate clinical research and provide funding for promising studies to find solutions to problems of diversity, equity, inclusion, and disparities in orthopaedics. The OREF and the RJOS are seeking funding for collaborative research studies, especially those focusing solutions in the following areas, although other areas of disparity in orthopaedic practice will be considered: (A) Solutions to reduce gender inequities in orthopaedic care; (B) Strategies to reduce gender inequities in orthopaedic research; (C) Solutions to reduce injury differences/diagnoses influenced by gender; (D) Solutions to reduce sex differences in sports injuries; (E) Promotion of diversity in orthopaedic Surgical Training. The principal investigator (PI) must be an orthopaedic surgeon licensed to practice in the U.S. and be working in an institution in the U.S. An MD, DO, DVM or PhD may serve as a co-principal investigator. The PI applicant must have been an RJOS member for at least five years and also a current member in good standing. Membership will be confirmed before the issuance of an award. A Co-PI may be a member of RJOS, but it is not a requirement for eligibility. The LOI deadline is August 12, 2024 and the application deadline is October 14, 2024.
