Description

The National Security Agency (NSA) offers the Language subset of the Stokes Educational Scholarship Program to high school seniors who aim to study the Chinese language in college. The base award consists of an annual NSA salary and includes potential for additional funds of up up to $30,000 per year for tuition and fees. Recipients must work at the NSA post-college and also over summer breaks while in college. Scholarship Details • Applicable to both tuition and fees • Students who live more than 75 miles from the NSA will have travel expenses covered • 2-part application including an email submission and job application • Those with documented veteran status will be given preference Eligibility Criteria • U.S. citizen • Senior in high school • GPA of 3.0 or above preferred • Plan to study the Chinese language • High school course history of Chinese study • Not on track to earn an Associate's degree while in high school • Not a full-tuition scholarship recipient Application Process 1. Gather all required documents, including: Resume 2 letters of recommendation language teachers Academic transcripts, including Chinese course history AP and SAT scores ACTFL score and Seal of Bi-literacy (if applicable) 1-page essay 2. Resume 3. 2 letters of recommendation language teachers 4. Academic transcripts, including Chinese course history 5. AP and SAT scores 6. ACTFL score and Seal of Bi-literacy (if applicable) 7. 1-page essay 8. Combine all the above documents into one packet 9. Fill out the application on the NSA website and submit it in advance of the deadline 10. Check for a confirmation email to ensure your application has been received 11. Email your supplemental document packet to the NSA in advance of the deadline 12. Follow all NSA guidelines to maintain the award through and beyond college Those accepted into any branch of the NSA Stokes Educational Scholarship Program must undergo full NSA security clearance. This entails several tests and interviews to confirm aptitude for the position. Participants who resign from the program or neglect to follow NSA guidelines must pay back their award amount. Applications are accepted from September 1st to September 30th.
