Veterinary Science Career Development Event

The Veterinary Science Career Development Event recognizes and rewards members of FFA who score the highest in a competition related to forestry. Members compete as individuals or teams of four. Cash awards are presented to teams and individuals who achieve the highest scores. The veterinary science event aims to promote college and career readiness by developing students' technical knowledge and practical skills in veterinary science. Participants will demonstrate professional ethics, decision-making, business competency, communication, and problem-solving skills. They will also show technical competency with small and large animals in anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, identification, health and safety, medical terminology, and veterinary math applications. A team activity requires participants to analyze scenarios, present findings, and respond to questions from judges. By participating in this event, students prepare for careers in veterinary science, gaining valuable knowledge and skills in a hands-on, competitive environment. The 2026 Career and Leadership Events Team Certification and Uploads are due September 1; the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo is held October 21-24. The event is part of the Animal Systems career pathway.
