The AIA Chicago Foundation Diversity Scholarship is an opportunity to attract and retain diverse, talented young professionals in Chicago. Scholarship Details • Up to two $10,000 scholarships awarded annually • Distributed over two years: $5,000 per year, per recipient • Must be attending the University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, or the School of the Art Institute of Chicago • Each recipient is paired with a mentor from AIA Chicago to provide guidance throughout their academic journey Eligibility Criteria • Enrolling in a NAAB-accredited architecture master’s degree program at one of the eligible schools in the fall of 2025 • Must be entering the 1st year of a 2 or 3-year program or the 2nd year of a 3-year program • Proof of financial need through FAFSA or other financial documentation • Commitment to fostering diversity in the architecture profession Application Process 1. Create an account on the application portal and log in to access the application form 2. Prepare and upload the following materials: A portfolio showcasing your design work A one-page resume summarizing your educational background and achievements An up to 750-word statement addressing how you meet the diversity requirements and contribute to the profession Two (2) letters of recommendation, with at least one from a professor or an employer from a design-related firm Financial documentation, including FAFSA (if eligible) or other forms such as W2 or tax returns 3. Throughout the two years, each awardee is paired with a mentor from the AIA Chicago membership to receive ongoing guidance throughout their educational tenure.
