The Alaska Bar Association offers law school scholarships to current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year law students who demonstrate ties to Alaska, and an intent to return to Alaska within two years of graduation. Applications for a scholarship must be sent to the Alaska Bar Association by March 1. The application must include a completed application form, proof of enrollment in law school, a resume, proof of Alaska residency or an explanation of ties to Alaska, and a personal statement of not more than 1,500 words in which the applicant discusses their ties to Alaska, intent to return to Alaska, career goals, reason for applying for the scholarship, and any other pertinent information the applicant would like the scholarship committee to know about. The scholarship fundraising and implementation committee make all grant decisions and their decision is final. The amount and number of scholarships will be determined by the amount of money in the scholarship fund. Scholarship awards will be determined in late April.
