American Association of University Women Community Action Grants
$75,000
Award AmountFeb 6, 2027
DeadlineDescription
Community Action Grants provide funding to individuals, AAUW branches, and AAUW state organizations as well as community-based nonprofits for general operating support and innovative projects that promote education and equity for women and girls. The current AAUW Community Action Grants focus on dismantling barriers to girls' participation in STEM and creating a pipeline of diverse talent in these fields. Community Action Grants fund innovative, community-based programs that create pathways for K-12 girls to develop STEM confidence, skills, and identity — encouraging them to pursue STEM higher education and careers. There are two types of support: Project support, which is open to nonprofit organizations and universities, AAUW branches or state organizations, and individuals; and General operating support, which is open to nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations and universities must be based in the United States or its territories. Educational institutions such as K-12 schools are also eligible to apply. Project must also be implemented in the United States. Organizations (including universities) must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. AAUW branch and state applicants must have 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status. Proposals from AAUW branches or states must be approved and signed by the branch or state president. Proposals from local community-based nonprofit organizations must be approved and signed by the organization's executive director. Grants offer up to $75,000 to support nonprofits and educational institutions dedicated to helping girls in grades K–12 build the skills, confidence, and preparation they need to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Timeline: Deadline for Letter of Interests October 31, 2025; Application deadline for those invited February 6, 2026; Award Notification April 15, 2026; Disbursement of Funds July 2026.
