Description

The Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund scholarship program was established to support California high school students of Filipino heritage who demonstrate excellence in math and science to pursue rewarding engineering and science careers where Filipino Americans are underrepresented. The scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years. Applicants must be at least 50 percent Filipino. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a current teacher. Fifteen to twenty finalists will be chosen. Finalists must be available for a 30-minute interview on April 2025. If chosen for an interview, finalists must submit official transcripts, SAT/ACT score reports, and FAFSA submission summary. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Asian Pacific Fund for more information. The award provides $5,000 annually, renewable for up to 4 years for a total award of $20,000. Minimum GPA is 3.0. Eligible majors are engineering, mathematics, computer science, environmental or physical science. Those pursuing health careers are not eligible (i.e., physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, etc.). Applications are closed for 2026 and will reopen in 2027.
