Since 2017, Columbus Citizens Foundation has been awarding scholarships to promising medical school students of Italian heritage. The scholarship that launched CCF's medical school offerings in 2017 is primarily funded by, and candidates selected in partnership with, the Morgagni Medical Society, an organization founded in 1890 in order to foster the professional, intellectual, and economic development of Italian American physicians. Scholarship Details • Open to incoming first-year medical school students. • Applicants must demonstrate Italian heritage • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or 88%. • Consideration is given based on financial need. Eligibility Criteria • Incoming first-year medical school student. • At least 25% Italian heritage. • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or equivalent. Application Requirements • Submit 2024 and 2025 Federal Tax Return documents for self and/or parents. • Provide a FAFSA Submission Summary. • Submit three (3) essays (essay topics are on the application); all aspects of the written essays will be considered, including supporting details and mechanics. • Submit three (3) letters of recommendation: TWO must be from current teachers, advisors, and/or counselors; ONE may be from community members, counselors, or another person who can speak to the applicant's current academic merits and/or extracurricular and community service activities. Recommendations from friends or family members will not be accepted. • Submit an Official Transcript from the most recent completed academic term. • All requested documentation must be uploaded to the Scholar's App. All additional information requested by CCF, including the designated receiving school, must be submitted promptly to ensure the scholarship offer remains valid. Application Process 1. Ensure eligibility based on heritage, GPA, and enrollment status in medical school. 2. Prepare and submit the required documents, including tax returns, FAFSA, essays, letters of recommendation, and official transcript. 3.
