Committed Scholarship

The Committed Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors in Napa County, California. Students who are the first person in their family to attend college and exhibit leadership characteristics are encouraged to apply. The Napa Valley Community Foundation Committed Scholarship benefits one graduating senior who attends a high school in Napa County, is the first person in their family to attend college, and who grew up in a household where English was not the first language spoken. Applicants must have a strong academic record coupled with demonstrated leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, and heavy involvement in the community. They must also have a desire and a plan to return to the Napa Valley area to give back to the community after graduation. Recipients must attend a four-year college/university and will receive funding for up to four years of undergraduate study. Award Amount: up to $10,000 per year and renewable for up to four years (up to $40,000 total). Scholarship award amount will be based upon overall financial aid already received and any remaining funding gaps. Eligibility requirements include: graduating high school senior attending a high school in Napa County, cumulative GPA of at least 3.6, planning to attend an accredited, non-profit, four-year college/university pursuing undergraduate studies, demonstrated financial need, demonstrated leadership, community involvement, extracurricular activities, first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian has obtained a Bachelor's Degree), and a desire and plan to return to the Napa Valley area. Application requirements include a 500-word essay, list of community service activities, employment history, top high school and community activities, unofficial transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report or California Dream Act Student Aid Report, and two letters of recommendation (one academic letter from teacher/counselor/administrator, and one from coach/mentor/employer). Applications Open January 5–March 2 each year.
