Description

The Kildee Graduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to college juniors and seniors interested in working on a graduate degree in the dairy field. The top 25 All-American contestants in one of the past three National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contests, as well as the members of the first and second-place teams in the past three contests are eligible to apply. Established in 1950 by the National Dairy Shrine in honor of H.H. Kildee, Dean Emeritus at Iowa State University, the scholarship is awarded for graduate study to a student who excelled in dairy cattle judging. Students may apply in their junior or senior year of college. The scholarships are to be used for advanced study related to the dairy industry — including production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine, and environmental sciences — at the school of the recipient's choice. Awards are based on national contest participation, academic standing, leadership ability, student activities, future plans, and interest in the dairy industry. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who is familiar with the applicant's activities and academic achievements. The award amount is $3,000.
