Louise H. Ornelas Presidential Honors Scholarship

The Louise H. Ornelas Presidential Honors Scholarship is available to incoming freshmen students who are planning to attend Tyler Junior College. Students seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree are eligible to apply. Recipients will be expected to participate in the Presidential Honors Program. The scholarship covers 100% of tuition and fees for qualified recipients. Additional $1,800 per semester housing stipend available for students placed on the Honors Floor of Ornelas. Eligibility requirements: Rank in top 25% at end of junior year; achieve 3.5 unweighted high school GPA; meet testing requirements: ACT composite score of 26 or higher with minimum 19 on each English and Math subtests, OR SAT minimum of 650 in evidence-based reading and writing and 620 in math. Applicants must have a TJC student ID to apply. Deadline: April 15, 2026 for scholarship consideration; May 1, 2026 for acceptance form submission.
