Martin Frank Diversity Travel Awards

The Martin Frank Travel Award is designed to broaden participation of those pursuing professional careers in physiological sciences. The award is intended to increase participation in and networking at scientific meetings among trainees and early-career faculty who are either the first person in their family to receive a baccalaureate degree or come from an economically disadvantaged background. Travel Award recipients receive travel reimbursement, plus mentoring and networking opportunities during the American Physiology Summit. Applicants should register for the meeting at the early registration rate. Applicants can only receive this award twice for the duration of their career. The Martin Frank Travel Awards are open to: Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career faculty (recently transitioned; within 5 years of receiving a PhD) level. Individuals who are either the first person in their family to earn a baccalaureate degree or come from an economically disadvantaged background. People from all racial and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be attending U.S. institutions and conducting research within the 50 States and U.S. Territories. Applicants are selected based on the applicant's reasons for attending the Summit, CV and recommendation letters. These awards do not provide funds for international travel. The award cannot be delayed and is contingent upon funding. All applications must be submitted in full by the stated deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications are only accepted via online submission. Award: Up to $1,500 in travel support for transportation and hotel. Award deadline: Dec. 9.
