Mary Lou Berry Memorial Scholarship

The Mary Lou Berry Memorial Scholarship supports graduating seniors from Nueces Canyon High School in Barksdale, Texas. Applicants must be planning to enroll at a college, university, or medical training program and studying nursing or medicine. Financial need is considered in the selection process. This scholarship was established in memory of Mary Lou Berry, who had a 60-year career as a nurse and encouraged students in Nueces Canyon ISD to pursue a college education. The award is $5,000, distributed over two years. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, a minimum ACT score of 15, and must submit two letters of recommendation from academic instructors. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit an official college transcript after the first academic year to receive funds for the second year. The application deadline is February 4, 2026.
