The Matt Fong Asian Americans in Public Finance Scholarship is available to undergraduate students attending a 4-year college in California. Students who are of Asian heritage and studying for a degree in accounting, business, or social sciences are welcome to apply. Special consideration is given to those with an interest in public sector work or those with community service and community advocacy. Four $5,000 scholarships are available for full-time undergraduate students at a four year college or university in California or New York in Fall of 2026. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. The application opens in December 2025 and all materials must be received by 11:59pm PDT on Monday, April 20, 2026. The application checklist includes an application form, transcript, 2 letters of recommendation, and an online interview for finalists. The scholarship honors former California State Treasurer Matt Fong, for his dedication to public service, active involvement in state politics, and direct impact he had in opening up opportunities for Asian Americans in the public finance industry.
