Description

The NEACHMM Family Scholarship is available to students who are residents of New England and are members of the New England Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (NEACHMM). Students seeking a a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) such as biology, chemistry, environmental science/engineering, and health and safety management are eligible to apply. Special consideration is given to students in the following order: 1. immediate family members (child, spouse) of a NEACHMM member; 2. relatives (grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members) of a NEACHMM member; 3. friends and acquaintances of a member. The goal of the scholarship program is to promote the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) disciplines and to benefit our membership. Every year NEACHMM will award at least one $1,000 scholarship to an applicant meeting the qualifying criteria. An applicant does not need to meet both qualifying criteria to apply. However, applicants meeting both qualifying criteria will score higher on qualifying criteria than those meeting only one. Completed applications and required documentation must be submitted by the deadline. Winning recipients will be notified within 1 month of the application deadline. Scholarships will be awarded within 2 months of the application deadline. Scholarship recipients from the previous year are not eligible in consecutive years. All prospective applicants must provide a copy of registration for the upcoming semester for current students or a letter of acceptance for prospective students. Qualifying Criteria: Criteria 1 - Eligible applicants are those who are, or will be, pursuing a major in a discipline of EH&S (e.g., biology, chemistry, environmental science/engineering, health & safety management) at an accredited university, college, junior college, trade school, or nursing school. Criteria 2 - Eligible applicants are NEACHMM members and those related to, or acquainted with, a current NEACHMM member in good standing. First consideration will be given to NEACHMM members in good standing and immediate family member (child, spouse) of a NEACHMM member in good standing who is pursuing a college education at an accredited university, college, junior college, trade school, or nursing school. Second consideration will be given to NEACHMM members' grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or other family members attending an accredited university, college, junior college, trade school, or nursing school. Third consideration will be given to a friend or acquaintance of a current NEACHMM member in good standing attending an accredited university, college, junior college, trade school, or nursing school.
