Description

The Sherman Teacher Scholars Program is open to incoming freshmen, transfer and current UMBC students, and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidates. The program supports and prepares high-quality teachers to teach in urban, high-needs schools. Scholars in early childhood and elementary education prepare to be experts in teaching and integrating STEM subject areas, while secondary candidates become experts in teaching a STEM discipline. Students who will either pursue an undergraduate certificate or a Master's degree in teaching are highly encouraged to apply. The award ranges from $3,000 to $12,000. Selected finalists are invited to attend a Scholar Selection Day that includes an interview. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County for more information.
