Created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1974 as a non-profit corporation with the merging of the Tennessee Educational Loan Corporation and the Tennessee Tuition Grant Program, the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) administers over 20 different state student financial aid programs, including the HOPE scholarship, Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee Student Assistance Award, and the Dual Enrollment grant.The Minority Teaching Fellows Program is intended to encourage talented minority Tennesseans to enter the teaching field in Tennessee. This award is for students who are pursing a teacher certification at an eligible Tennessee college or university. To be eligible, applicants must: be a minority Tennessee resident and a U.S. citizen; be classified as a college junior, senior, or graduate student; be enrolled full-time if an undergraduate or at least part-time if a graduate student; have a 2.5 GPA; and not yet be a licensed teacher.
