The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) offers over $200,000 in scholarships each year for undergraduate and graduate music students in Texas. TMEA provides multiple awards of up to $15,000 to high school seniors seeking to become music teachers in Texas.Scholarship Details• Varying awards of up to $15,000.• Scholarship recipients will be notified by email in January.Eligibility Criteria• Texas high school graduate• Entering as a full-time freshman in a Texas college or university in the fall• Majoring in music education• Will eventually pursue a Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching fieldApplication Process1. Provide the names and emails of 5 references.2. Write a short essay that describes when you knew you wanted to be a music educator, the teachers who inspired you, and the teacher you want to become.3. Attach a professional resume that includes a list of musical and academic honors, awards, recognitions, affiliations, community involvement, and service.4. Include a copy of your most recent academic transcript.TMEA works to provide professional growth opportunities, encourage interaction among music education professionals, foster public support for music in schools, offer quality musical experiences for students, cultivate universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music, and develop productive working relationships with other professional organizations.
