The TMEA One-Year Scholarships for High School Seniors is available for graduating high school seniors for one year (multiple awarded annually). Applicants must be Texas high school graduates entering as a full-time freshman, as defined by the attending institution, in a Texas college or university in the fall 2027. Students must major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching field. Scholarship applications are accepted from August 1 to October 31, and must be submitted by 4:30 PM CT on October 31. Applicants must submit the names and email addresses of five references; one evaluation must be submitted by the applicant's primary ensemble director. Other required application materials include a short essay (describing when you knew you wanted to be a music educator, the teachers who inspired you, and the teacher you want to become), a professional resume (list of musical and academic honors, awards, recognitions, affiliations, community involvement, and service), and a current academic transcript.
