University of Dallas Music Departmental Scholarship
$5,000
Award AmountDec 15
DeadlineDescription
The Music Departmental Scholarship is available to high school seniors and transfer students at the University of Dallas. The award amount is $1,000 to $5,000 per year, applied to tuition. Students who have applied to UDallas with an interest in studying Music may compete for the award; students are not necessarily required to major in Music to receive or maintain the scholarship. Although many applicants may be qualified in multiple subject areas, each student may apply for up to two departmental scholarship awards but may only receive one. A departmental scholarship may not be added on top of a full-tuition scholarship. Applications open August 1 and the deadline to apply is December 1. The last day to interview/audition (in person or online) is December 15. Students must submit a letter of recommendation from a music instructor (private instructor or a high school instructor) or college music teacher, as well as a letter of intent describing goals regarding music, how the applicant envisions music fitting into their life at UDallas, and plans after graduation. Once they have completed their application, they will be instructed on how to schedule an on-campus interview/audition with the Music Department. Applicants should be prepared to perform two contrasting works (i.e. one fast, one slow, can be from the same piece or from different pieces) during their audition and will also participate in an oral interview. The Music Departmental Scholarship is renewable annually for four consecutive school years, dependent upon the student's academic performance: students must participate in at least one ensemble each semester and take at least one academic music class each year. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
