The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) awards up to $20,000 to graduate students in arts and architecture through the Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowships. Scholarship Details • 3 main fellowships and up to 3 lesser fellowships • No age limit, but applicants under 25 years old are prioritized • Recipients may not work as UIUC faculty (instructor, lecturer, or faculty member) while receiving the award, but may hold other remunerative employment with advance approval of the fellowship committee • Merit-based • For UIUC applicants, funds are only to support travel/research expenses in their field of study — not a tuition waiver • Funds may be used for advanced study in the United States or abroad • The three main fellowships are structured as: one of $20,000 in art and design, dance, instrumental or vocal music, or theatre; one of less than $20,000 in any field of music; and one of less than $20,000 in any field of study within the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Up to three additional fellowships of lesser amounts may also be granted upon committee recommendation for any field of study within the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Eligibility Criteria • Graduate of UIUC's College of Fine and Applied Arts or an equivalent institution of equal educational standing • Major in: Architecture or landscape architecture Art Dance Music Theatre Urban or regional planning • Architecture or landscape architecture • Art • Dance • Music • Theatre • Urban or regional planning • Academic excellence (unusual promise in the fine arts as attested by high attainment in the applicant's major field) • High attainment in related cultural fields • Serious engagement in field of study and good moral character Application Process 1. Complete the application and submit it in advance of the deadline Founded in 1931, this fellowship honors the memory of Kate Neal Kinley, influential music and arts student at UIUC.
