Captain Sean P. Grimes Physician Assistant Educational Scholarship Award provides financial assistance to current and former Army personnel interested in attending a college or university to become a physician assistant. Sponsored by the Society of Army Physician Associates (SAPA), the scholarship is awarded annually in honor of CPT Sean P. Grimes, PA-C, the first Physician Associate killed in action. The 2026 award amount is $2,000. Applicants must have an Army affiliation (Army Veteran, Army Retiree, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, or Army Active Duty) and meet one of the following enrollment criteria: (1) Initial Training — accepted or enrolled in an ARC-PA accredited PA program; or (2) Advanced Degree — NCCPA-certified PA accepted or enrolled in an accredited advanced degree program. Minimum GPA: 2.5+. Additional requirements include no restrictions on board certification or licenses, no pending disciplinary actions or probation, and not being registered as a felon or sex offender. Applications must be postmarked no later than July 31st of each year.
