Chapman Urban Scholars Program (CUSP)

The Chapman Urban Scholars Program (CUSP) was established in 2021 by husband and wife Rev. Charles and Dr. Liz Chapman. The Chapman Urban Scholars Program (CUSP) was created to help underrepresented students on the 'cusp' of educational advancement have the necessary opportunities to follow their dreams of studying in the area of social services or one of the sciences. In partnership with POISE Foundation, several scholarships are provided to eligible high school seniors in Columbus, Ohio. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants: MUST be a high school senior in Columbus City Schools (CCS); MUST have a minimum of 2.7 GPA as shown in their official high school transcripts (copies accepted); MUST demonstrate involvement in their community; MUST provide evidence of acceptance to an accredited institution in the United States; MUST intend to major in the sciences or in social services. Minority students are strongly encouraged to apply. One or two Chapman Urban Scholars Program scholarships (worth $7,000 overall) are to be awarded annually. The application period is open from: February 1 – May 31, 2026. The Chapman Urban Scholars Program is open to seniors graduating from public or charter high schools in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, or Ashtabula Area City Schools in Ohio. Students must be seeking a bachelor's degree in the sciences or social services. Special consideration is given to minority students. Minimum 2.70 GPA. Resident of Ashtabula or Columbus, Ohio or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. High school senior. Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree. Pursuing studies in the sciences or social services. Planning to attend school in the U.S.. Participation in community service. Preference is given to minority students. Pursued degree level: Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree.
