Martin Scholarships are available to incoming first-year, transfer, and continuing students in any major who are Pell-eligible with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $3,000 or less. Preference will be given to students from underrepresented groups. Preference will also be given to incoming freshmen and transfer students with a minimum of 3.7 cumulative GPA (unweighted for high school), minimum 26 ACT, and minimum 1150 SAT. Continuing students at UNC Charlotte must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. Two essays and two academic letters of recommendation are required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents and residents of North Carolina, and must be members of or intend to join an honors program. Incoming freshman Martin Scholars are required to attend UTOP during the summer prior to their first semester at UNC Charlotte. Award equals the student's unmet financial need, up to the full cost of attendance (average total value of $35,000 for a four-year student, including a study abroad stipend).
